Quality Benchmark

Broward County is hard on concrete. Hot sun, daily storms, humidity, a high water table and salt air all work on a slab at once. Most early failures come from poor prep, not bad luck.

Base prep:

Reinforcement:

Control joints:

Soft or wet soil under a slab leads to cracks and sinking. We compact the base before any concrete arrives.

Steel or fiber in the mix helps hold a slab together as the ground shifts.

Concrete shrinks as it dries, so we cut joints to guide where it cracks.

Why Concrete Fails Here (and How We Prevent It)

Drainage:

Sealing:

Soft or wet soil under a slab leads to cracks and sinking. We compact the base before any concrete arrives.

A good sealer helps block water, stains and sun fade.

Why Fort Lauderdale Homeowners Choose Us

We Build for Florida Conditions

We don't treat every slab the same. We check drainage, soil, and sun exposure before we quote, because that's what decides whether concrete cracks in year two or holds up for decades.

You Get a Written Estimate

Your quote spells out the size, thickness, finish, and what's included. You'll know the scope and price before any work begins, with no vague numbers.

We Handle the Permit Question

Many driveway and patio jobs in Broward cities need a permit, and rules differ by city. We tell you early whether yours does and what's needed, so paperwork doesn't stall your project.

We Prep Before We Pour

Most concrete problems start below the surface. We compact the base, set the forms properly, and add reinforcement where the job calls for it.

Straight Talk on Repair or Replace

If your slab can be saved, we'll say so. If it can't, we'll explain why and show you what we found. You'll never get a replacement quote for a problem a repair could solve.

Clean Sites and Clear Communication

You'll know when we're arriving, what's happening each day, and when it's time to stay off the concrete. We clean up when we finish.

Our Concrete Pouring Process

We build concrete slabs for South Florida's tough conditions. Our crews plan for shifting soil, standing water, and heat, so your slab stays strong and level.

Finish and Cure

We clear out roots and soft soil. Then we level the ground so water drains away from your slab. Last, we pack down a layer of crushed limestone. This keeps the slab from sinking later.

We build strong forms along the edges of your slab. We lay a steel rebar grid and lift it on small supports so it sits in the middle of the concrete. We also add a moisture barrier to handle Florida's humidity.

We pour strong 4000 PSI concrete from a local plant. Vibrators remove air pockets and gaps. Then we smooth the top with a screed board for a flat, even surface.

We finish the surface with a non-slip broom texture or a decorative pattern. We cut clean control joints to guide cracks. Then we spray on a sealer to hold in moisture and block sun and heat damage.

Concrete Questions We Hear Most

How much does a concrete driveway cost in Fort Lauderdale?

Plain poured driveways in Broward often run about $6 to $12 per square foot. Demolition, thicker slabs, reinforcement, drainage fixes and permits can push the total higher . Stamped concrete costs more, often around $8 to $16 per square foot . A typical two-car driveway can land between roughly $3,000 and $8,500 . Prices vary by contractor, so we give you a written quote after seeing your site.

How long does concrete last in South Florida?

Well-built concrete can last for decades. How long depends on the base, reinforcement, drainage and sealing, not only the mix. Salt air, rain and heat shorten the life of poorly built slabs. Resealing as your contractor advises helps protect it.

Do I need a permit for a concrete driveway or patio?

Usually, yes. Pompano Beach states that installing, replacing or majorly repairing a residential driveway or patio needs a building permit. Applications in Broward cities use the county's Uniform Building Permit Application. Rules change from city to city. Some cities also require a Notice of Commencement once the job passes a set dollar amount, and that amount is not the same everywhere. Driveway aprons in the road right-of-way follow separate rules. Check with your city's building department, or ask us before you sign anything.

Can I resurface my concrete instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the slab is solid and the damage is on the surface, such as wear, stains or minor flaking, resurfacing can restore the look for less than replacement. If the slab is sunken, heavily cracked or has exposed, rusting rebar, repair or replacement is the better choice. We check the slab first and tell you which applies.

How long before I can walk or drive on new concrete?

Light foot traffic is usually fine after 24 to 48 hours . Many residential slabs can take car traffic in about 7 to 10 days, and full design strength comes at 28 days . Keep heavy trucks and equipment off until the concrete has fully cured. Your contractor should give you the exact timing for your mix and weather.

What is the difference between cement and concrete?

Cement is one ingredient. Concrete is the finished mix of cement, water, sand and gravel. People say "cement driveway," but what gets poured is concrete.
